SINGAPORE TODAY
In 2014, we consumed 46,403GWh of electricity and 16,508 GWh of natural gas.
However, less than 9% of all the electricity generated is attributed to waste-to-energy companies
Only 500 roads will have Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights BY 2018 and projected energy savings are less than 30%.

HOW WE ENVISION SINGAPORE TO BE
Imagine a world where everywhere you go, there’s light following you, like a concerned friend, making sure you work, play and get home safe.
Imagine, knowing that there’s light in every step of your loved ones, being sure that the darkness and danger will be kept away
no matter where or what time of day.
When you get frustrated and want to go out for some fresh air, be amongst nature, there will always be a path illuminated even down the road less travelled.
As you walk down the streets, waiting for dawn, the ripples of the trees wave to you, like a friendly greeting, reminding you that you are not the only one awake in this sleeping city.
Despite the murky waters in our rivers, you see hints of movement down there, given away by light streaks they leave in their chase.
You are forced to wonder what was that and maybe think twice about thoughtless litter that might ruin any chance of wondrous life down there.
Suddenly, all these quiet movements bring life and bustle to this beautiful place we call home. And maybe, this home is not as sterile and lifeless as
everyone makes us out to be. That is achievable with….
PIEZOELECTRICITY -- Piezoelectricity is the ability of certain materials to generate an electric charge in response to mechanical stress.
They also have the opposite effect , the application of electric voltage produces mechanical strain in the materials.
